Access

Access to the main house will be granted remotely. For initial access, you must enter the main house through the side entrance.

Air Conditioner

There are four air conditioning units in the property; one in each bedroom, one in the kitchen, and one in the living room. Please remember to turn off units when not in the room, or upon leaving the house. The house sits in a natural breezeway and is subject to strong breezes coming off of the ocean. So the temperature remains pleasant when doors are opened for a cross breeze.

Appliances

The kitchen is well equipped with most standard appliances (Kettle, Toaster, Blender, Mixer, Coffee Maker, Refrigerator, Stove). User guides and instruction booklets for most of the appliances are located in the middle drawer beneath the Microwave.

Artwork

Artwork throughout the house was specially curated by the owner and feature Artists local to the West Indies. These paintings are unique, one of a kind originals. Please do not touch or handle the artwork.

Books

There are books available for your use. Please return after reading.

Bug Zapper

Broom & Dustpan

There is a small broom and dustpan in the corner of the kitchen. There are also several larger mops and brooms in the outside vestibule off the kitchen.

There are candles in the home, mostly for decoration or to give off a pleasant aroma. Even though the candles are scented, they are not meant to be lit (for safety reasons). Candles should never be left burning unattended. Do not place a burning candle under or near lamp shades, florals, furniture, or curtains.

Carlisle Bay

BellaDonna is located mere steps from picturesque Carlisle Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and protected marine park. Carlisle Bay features several interconnected beaches, most notably Brownes Beach, Pebbles Beach, and Bayshore Beach. Known for its vibrant marine life and historic shipwrecks, the Bay is a top spot for snorkeling, diving, swimming, and water sports. Be mindful, boat traffic can be heavy during high season. There are many nearby amenities like chair and umbrella rentals, restrooms, lifeguards, and beach bars. There are a few named beaches located on the Bay.

There is a fiberglass Fire Blanket in the pantry next to the refrigerator with the cleaning supplies.

Fire Extinguisher

There is a fire extinguisher located under the sink in the kitchen.

Food

Please do not leave food and dirty dishes on the counters or in the sink. Food remnants attract all sorts of critters. For a more comfortable experience, we suggest only eating in kitchen or dining areas and removing any food residue promptly. If you leave dirty dishes in the sink or lying about the home, or if you eat in other areas and leave remnants, there is a high probability it will attract insects.

Floors

Floors are original hardwood throughout the house except for the kitchen and the bathrooms. When coming from the beach, wash your feet and remove your shoes before as to not track sand throughout the house. Please do not drag heavy furniture. Lift if necessary.

Florals

All flowers and plants in the home are artificial. No watering needed.

Insects

This is a tropical island and there are a variety of insects that inhabit the island. We do our best to prevent them from making this their home, but on occasion a relative few will make their way into the house. We provide bug spray, mosquito coils and bug zappers to help control insect activity. Spray on the wall, Squash on the floors.

Iron & Ironing Board

There is an iron and ironing board in the laundry room for your use. Please use the distilled water specifically for irons located in the kitchen pantry by the entrance door.

Kettle

There is an electric kettle available. Make sure to unplug the kettle when empty. The kettle will keep the water at the selected temperature for a period of time and then automatically shut off. DO NOT PLACE THE KETTLE BACK ON THE BASE IF IT IS EMPTY – UNPLUG THE BASE FIRST.

There is a Fahrenheit thermometer located in the oven on the rack.

The cleaner has different suction strengths. The default setting is 2 bars when first turning on the unit. For rugs and furniture, use the 1st setting (one bar) as the 2nd and 3rd are too strong and will cause the vacuum to malfunction. For tile and hardwood flooring you can use the 2nd or 3rd setting.

Water

The tap water in Barbados is safe for drinking. It is sourced from naturally filtered limestone aquifers and treated to World Health Organization (WHO) standards. You may see chalky white residue sediments in the kettle and ice. If that does not appeal to you, bottled water is readily available at supermarkets and restaurants.
